 Mysterious Blood Trails at my Home

About a month ago, I came home and found mysterious blood trails around my home.  I mapped them out, studied them for about an hour, and kept trying to recreate the scene, but it confounded me.  I asked the neighbors who saw nothing, and were equally confounded.  I cast about for hours trying to pick up the trail in the general area. 

 Clearly it was made by a human or humans, and I could sense that whoever did it had lingered, which made no sense.  Over and over I walked the tracks and I just could not figure it out.  I thought maybe someone working on the banana trees and hurt himself, but that was a LOT of blood for one guy to spill, and also the patterns did not make sense.  Why would he bleed so heavy and hang around without telling anyone?  Was he a criminal?  The mystery remained.  

So I came home an hour ago, and there were new blood trails.  Lots and lots of it.  I cast about my home a lot, so I know it was not there yesterday.  I did not even see it this morning.  Again, I started photographing and mapping it, and this time I was ready to call the police.  Instead, I did what you should always, which is to find the oldest person that you can find, and ask.  So I asked an elderly woman, and she looked at the blood trails and laughed.  Walked back to her home, and came out with a big knife. 

 She said it is banana blood!  (None of the other Thais knew this!)  She cut a banana tree and showed me the clear blood, and rubbed it on the concrete, saying it will disappear now, but you will see it like blood tomorrow.  Sure enough, it has disappeared now.  And this explains why I did not see it this morning.  

She said they are cutting the banana leafs for Loi Krathong festival.  She laughed very hard and asked if I am happy now, and I said yes, thank you!  (I should buy her a small gift, because she just taught me something about tracking.)

  A revolutionary surgery took place on this day 64 years ago, changing the world of medicine as we know it.  For the first time ever, a machine was inserted into the human body in lieu of a body part that was no longer able to function correctly.  In 1958, two doctors, cardiac surgeon Ake Senning and medical device engineer Rune Elmqvist, implanted the first ever internal cardiac pacemaker into the body of Swedish engineer Arne Larsson. Larsson’s surgery was done to treat his Stokes-Adams syndrome, a condition that slows the heartbeat and decreases blood flow to the brain, resulting in potentially fatal fainting spells.  This revolutionary internal pacemaker was the size of a hockey puck and used two transistors that would deliver tiny shocks to the heart.
