NDOLA WOMAN RECEIVES 5 YEARS FOR INSERTING NEEDLE IN SONS PENIS

Ndola-based magistrate Brian Simachela has described the act as inhuman, barbaric, satanic and heartless.

In this case, Florence Lumunga, a housewife of Mushili Township, was convicted of one count of assault on a child.

On August 27 last year, around 17:00 hours, Lumunga assaulted her eight-year-old stepson on his private part and backside using a needle.

It was heard that the reason for assaulting the child was that he knocked off early from school and this amounted to wasting his father’s resources.

The court heard that Lumunga became annoyed with the boy and whipped his private parts and backside, resulting in cuts and injuries.

  A revolutionary surgery took place on this day 64 years ago, changing the world of medicine as we know it.  For the first time ever, a machine was inserted into the human body in lieu of a body part that was no longer able to function correctly.  In 1958, two doctors, cardiac surgeon Ake Senning and medical device engineer Rune Elmqvist, implanted the first ever internal cardiac pacemaker into the body of Swedish engineer Arne Larsson.   The Koraga are a tribal community found mainly in the Dakshina Kannada, Udupi districts of Karnataka and the Kasaragod district of Kerala, south India.  These areas in Karnataka, are altogether often referred to as Tulunaad, which roughly corresponds to the boundaries of the erstwhile South Canara district.  They are also found in small numbers in adjoining districts of Uttara Kannada, Shimoga and Kodagu. The Koraga are classified by the Government of India as a Scheduled Tribe.
