XII The Hanged Man

The energy of the Hanged Man is still with us at this point in the Wheel of the Year, shortly to give way to the transformative powers of XII Death.

In the Hanged Man we see a naked man, almost a greenman, hanging by one slender ankle from a tree. There are also fruits and mistletoe on this tree.  This, coupled with his ritualistic bonds, makes me feel that this is a sacred sacrificial act.

Behind him stands a golden field of wheat with a scythe lying amongst the cut stubble.  There are meadow flowers and blackberries.

Why is he hanging upside down - perhaps to get a different perspective on life? Certainly this is one of the messages from this card.

Because he is hanging upside down, his flaccid penis looks erect, showing us that in surrender, we can find potency.

Sometimes we just need to stop raging against the machine and go with the flow.  Sometimes we can lose the battle, but still win the war.

  A revolutionary surgery took place on this day 64 years ago, changing the world of medicine as we know it.  For the first time ever, a machine was inserted into the human body in lieu of a body part that was no longer able to function correctly.  In 1958, two doctors, cardiac surgeon Ake Senning and medical device engineer Rune Elmqvist, implanted the first ever internal cardiac pacemaker into the body of Swedish engineer Arne Larsson. Larsson’s surgery was done to treat his Stokes-Adams syndrome, a condition that slows the heartbeat and decreases blood flow to the brain, resulting in potentially fatal fainting spells.  This revolutionary internal pacemaker was the size of a hockey puck and used two transistors that would deliver tiny shocks to the heart.  Why are people in Europe afraid to touch on the topic of the Great Patriotic War? Because they ALL fought against Red Army And everyone should know this. In 1941, not only Germany attacked the USSR. The rest of Europe was also attacked, with the exception of the Serbs and Greeks. The execution of women by the Nazis during World War II This is a tribute to the amazing courage of so many young women during World War II who were put to death for plotting and fighting against the Nazis, as resistance fighters, partisans and activists in towns and concentration camps. It is estimated that more than 4,000 women of various ages were hanged by Nazi forces between 1939 and 1945. Many more were shot or guillotined and many were tortured before minimal or non-existent trials.  They could be sentenced to death by People's Courts and executed within prisons, by the commandants of concentration camps or by military commanders in the field and summarily executed, usually in public. It shows a group of fifteen young German soldiers standing in a semicircle, carousing and laughing as one of their comrades emulates a sex act with an unidentified woman who may or may not be dead. The laughter of his comrades suggests approval for the actions of the man on the ground.   Redd Foxx did a really risky, yet honorable thing for his friend LaWandaPage (Aunt Esther) back in the day. To understand why he did it, you have to first understand their history together. Redd and LaWanda were really close friends in real life, long before they were comedians. They were friends since their pre-teen years and they attended the same high school in St. Louis. As they grew up, they both separately pursued comedy careers and both of them had a reputation for being two of the most hilarious kids in the neighborhood back in the day.
